About
Welcome to the heart of Tokyo, where culinary enthusiasm meets authentic Japanese culture at Ramen MAKOTOYA! Nestled in the bustling district of Shibuya, this ramen haven captivates locals and visitors alike with its rich, flavorful offerings. The star of the show is their signature Gyu Paitan ramen, crafted with an elaborate process that involves simmering bones in a specialized large pressure pot. This method results in a broth that is both decadent and creamy, yet never overwhelming. Ramen MAKOTOYA has mastered the balance, showcasing a smooth milky texture that envelops your taste buds without veering into heaviness.
The original low-water straight noodles are a delight in themselves. Slightly firm and packed with the essence of quality wheat, they pair impeccably with the creamy beef broth, providing just the right amount of chew. As highlighted by satisfied patrons like J V, once you experience the richness of the Gyu Paitan ramen, you may find it hard to enjoy any other ramen again. And there’s more! The restaurant’s setup offers a unique opportunity for flavor experimentation with an array of complimentary toppings available at each table, including spicy pickled mustard greens, ginger, and fresh garlic.
With rave reviews from diners such as Marie Kalm, who praised the broth's deep flavors and carefully crafted noodles, it’s clear that Ramen MAKOTOYA has struck a chord in the hearts of its visitors. The inviting atmosphere, albeit a bit snug, adds to the charm of your dining experience. Moreover, the friendly staff is willing to accommodate families, making it a welcoming space for everyone, as noted by Cindy Tien.

“ Gyu Paitan ramen is rich and creamy and we will not have any other ramen after we tried Ramen Makotoya. ”
“ Tried this spot recently and was impressed. The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful — you can tell it’s been simmered for hours. The noodles had just the right amount of firmness, holding up well in the soup without getting soggy. Overall, a great bowl of ramen. I’ll definitely be coming back! ”
“ Comforting and delicious flavorful broth! Meat was tender and love the egg! Appreciate the different sauces and spices toppings available. The space is tight but it was off hours and they were kind enough to let us bring our stroller in (sleeping baby) and keep in the corner while we eat easy ticket machine system outside (avail in English) ”
“ I'm so glad I found this spot! Staff was so nice and the food was incredible. Ramen was flavorful and rich, the best I've had so far. ”
“ Excellent bone broth especially for someone who had bad experience previously. Good portions (no need for large). Noodles have perfect softness. ”
“ Came here before 1am so we were the only ones there. Order on a machine outside. I was a bit skeptical and had a very high standard because of the reviews saying this was ‘the best ramen ever’ and I can confirm that it is true. The beef ramen exceeded my expectations. The flavours I cannot describe, it is excellent. They offer several different toppings/sides to try with the ramen and ALL of them tasted amazing. It actually surprised me that a ramen could be so versatile and be complimented by so many different sides. They have instructions in Japanese how to eat the ramen with all of the sides. I watched people outside decide if they wanted to eat this ramen and several of them walked away and in my head I’m thinking they just missed out on an unforgettable ramen experience. Makotoya is in my top 2 of ramen in Japan. I will keep thinking about this ramen long after I leave Japan and I can’t wait for the day I go back and get to eat this again. ”
“ No long queue...straightly to be seated and amazingly the taste is so delicious, the soup is quite hot but it makes it perfect. The pork is so tender and juicy umamy.... ”
“ Probably the best ramen we had in Japan during our trip! We went for the spicy ramen, adding an egg. Very quick service and they have a touch screen you can order from in English. 10/10 ”
